For expats in the Netherlands · Belastingdienst, toeslagen, IND

The letter that asks for money back.
Understand it while there’s time.

Benefits paid in advance can be reclaimed months later, in Dutch, with weeks to pay or object. KIAgent reads the letters you save and the emails you get, on your own computer, so ChatGPT or Claude can explain what’s claimed, why, and by when, and draft the Dutch reply for you to send.

A repayment letter, explained in English, with the deadline and a Dutch reply ready to check.
Digital, in Dutch, on a deadline

Everything is online. Nothing is in one place.

The letter itself sits in the Berichtenbox; you only get an email saying it’s there. The tax office, the Toeslagen service, the gemeente, the waterschap and your insurer all write separately, in Dutch, often with six weeks to act. And when letters do come by post, PostNL delays have made people miss deadlines.

Registering with the gemeente

Appointments are scarce. Bring everything the first time.

Every gemeente has its own list: passport, birth certificate, sometimes apostilled, proof of address. Ask what you have, and your AI finds each document in your mail and folders, with the gap named before the appointment.

  • Passport, birth certificate and lease found in one answer
  • Apostilles and translations checked for
  • Gaps named before the appointment, not at the desk
  • Every document linked, ready to print
Everything for the registration, and the one statement still to ask for.
Saved and filed

Save the PDF or snap the letter. It files itself.

Download the letter from the Berichtenbox or photograph the one that came by post, drop it into Incoming, and KIAgent reads it and moves it into your folders by rules you write in plain English.

  • Rules in your own words
  • Letters read in Dutch, filed by what they say
  • A photo of a posted letter keeps the date you got it
  • If a file can’t be filed, it’s shown to you, never lost
Incoming: saved letters filed into Permit, Belastingdienst, Toeslagen, Health and Housing.
The 30% ruling

Did HR file it, and when did your clock start?

You and your employer apply together, and timing matters. Ask what’s been sent, and get your first working day from the contract and every email with HR about it, so you can check with them while there’s time.

  • Your first working day, from your contract
  • Every email with HR about the application
  • The decision letter found when it arrives
The start date and what HR sent, so you know what to ask.
How it works

Save, add, ask.

01

Save every letter

Download it from the Berichtenbox or photograph the one that came by post, into your Incoming folder. KIAgent files it.

02

Add your mail

Gmail, Outlook or any IMAP mail. Notifications, bills and HR emails, read on your computer, in Dutch.

03

Ask in English

In ChatGPT or Claude: what does this letter want, by when, what do I have for the appointment. Every answer links the original.

Every message, sorted

MijnOverheid, the insurer, the gemeente. One list, already sorted.

Notification emails from every office, insurer and landlord land in Messages, sorted from your work and personal mail into Life admin, with bills marked. A “new message” alert stands out instead of hiding under newsletters.

  • Gmail, Outlook and any IMAP mail, WhatsApp and Telegram in one list
  • Sorted into Work, Personal and Life admin on your computer
  • Bills, receipts and alerts marked as what they are
  • Your AI can search all of it, by sender or by word
Messages, Life admin: MijnOverheid, the insurer, the gemeente and the IND, together.
The bill you didn’t expect

Why is the insurer billing you?

A hospital visit, then a bill for the deductible. Ask what it’s for, and get the visit, the claim and the insurer’s statement, in English, with the originals linked.

  • The bill and the visit it belongs to, found together
  • Statements read in Dutch, explained in English
  • Payment terms read from the bill
A surprise bill, matched to the visit it came from.

Your documents, your computer

Your BSN and tax letters don’t belong in another cloud.

Everything KIAgent reads stays on your own computer. When you ask your AI about a letter, only what the answer needs goes to it, and every lookup is on the record.

Your documents stay on your computer
Tax letters, permits and insurance bills are read and stored here, not on our servers.
Letters read on your computer
Text recognition for photos and scans runs locally. Nothing is uploaded to read them.
You decide what goes to your AI
When you ask ChatGPT or Claude, only the passages that answer needs go to it. Folders you don’t add are never read.
Every lookup is logged
See what your AI looked up, and when. Revoke an app’s access in one click.
Remove it, and it’s gone
Remove a folder or account and everything read from it is deleted too.
Open source
Read every line of what touches your documents.
Your AI asked — every request, every app, on your machine.
Honest answers

The questions a skeptic actually asks.

KIAgent reads them, in Dutch, on your computer. When you ask ChatGPT or Claude, they explain the letter in English from that text and link the original, so you can check it. It’s a helpful explanation, not legal or tax advice: for anything with real consequences, ask the Belastingdienst, the gemeente, a tax advisor or the Juridisch Loket.

No. KIAgent doesn’t log in with DigiD. It reads the notification emails you get, so they stand out in Messages. Download the letter and save it into Incoming, and from then on it’s searchable and explained.

It can draft the letter in Dutch, from your documents. It waits in your Outbox until you’ve read it and press Send. The decision, and the submission through the official channel, stay with you.

Only what an answer needs, when you ask through it, and every lookup is logged on your computer. Don’t add a folder you never want an AI to read from, or remove it later and everything read from it is deleted.

Yes. Everything on your own computer is free and open source. The only paid option is remote access, so ChatGPT or Claude on your phone can reach your computer, handy at the counter of the office.
